I'm sure that you can make yourself a picnic the day before as no shops are open in the city on the day itself. There is a big Woolworths at Town Hall and they sell a full line of groceries as well as a good lot of deli lines ham, turkey breast ,roast beef, cheeses ready made salads, seasonal fruits there are nearby bottle shops off licence. You can spend the day around the most beautiful harbour in the world, the is harbour itself with the botanical gardens great views of the opera house and harbour bridge or Darling harbour plenty of picnic area there as well.
Yes you can go to Manly for the day by ferry or Bondi very popular with Brits by bus. I hope other Aussies will read this and give other options I might get some hints from them. So picnic for a Romantic picnic together or hotel, restaurant or club to celebrate with the crowds whatever turns you on.
