Last time I wrote about two betting progressions that very simple to use but still very powerful. This time I will go into more detail on these progressions. The two progressions mentioned last time are the press-and-pull or the pull-and-press variant and the up-a-unit. The press-and-pull progression alternates between press ing the place bet when the number hits and pull ing the profits when it hits. The up-a-unit progression adds one unit to the place number each time it hits.
In any of these progressions, each number that you place works independently of other numbers. You only take the next step of the progression on the number that hits. The strategies are arranged from least aggressive to most aggressive. The columns upon which to focus are the "Total" columns. Notice that for the first few hits the less aggressive strategies outperform the more aggressive strategies. As you rack up more hits, however, the more aggressive your strategy, the better you do.
It still takes eleven hits for the pull-and-press strategy to outperform up-a-unit and it still takes eight hits for press-and-pull to outperform up-a-unit. So what is the moral of this little tour of selected statistics? Craps is a dice game in which players place wagers on the outcome of the roll, or a series of rolls, of a pair of dice. Players may wager money against each other street craps, also known as shooting dice or rolling dice or a bank casino craps, also known as table craps. Pressing a place bet self. I was in AC the other night playing the craps table and the guy next to me kept going "up a unit" every time 6 or 8 came up.
What's the advantage here? Then the shooter 7'd out. I guess my question is, what's the point of continuing to press? I've seen other players do this before. The shooter isn't going to keep hitting 6's forever, so after like 1 or 2 presses why would you keep pressing it? You should always assume you're going to lose anyway, so might as well hope to win a ton. The first four rolls, I'm ahead. But sooner or later that bastard 7 shows up and what are the odds of hitting five 6's before a 7 turns up?
It's 42 minus the original bet, so 36 for 6 hits. Obviously it's unlikely, but if you think about the odds of winning to long then you'll never play. Getting greedy blows the bankroll quicker! I want to try and leave with more! The idea is that once a bet hits a 3rd time, you press it however much you want each time it comes out. The theory of this is to recoup your money in total, and then you're only pressing with "house money". Now, the next time either hits, you'd press your bet, as it's not "your" money that you came in with, it's money you won, so it feels like you're not actually betting it.
I suppose that makes sense. For me, I guess I would rather make a few bucks off the hits consistently than pressing the bets continuously because the shooter will almost certainly 7 out before you hit it big. Agreed, but sometimes it may be profitable. As you can see, as the number of hits goes up, so does your profit.
So with a hot shooter this can be very profitable, but if the shooter isn't too hot, it's best to keep your bets. All depends on how you're feeling about the shooter. Which is I guess where I was coming from. Table felt lukewarm at best so I didn't understand why he was pressing so often.
The basics Casino Craps or Bank Craps , a dice game, is one of the most exciting casino games. It is common to hear yelling and shouting at a craps table. It is played on a purpose-built table and two dice are used. The dice are made after very strict standards and are routinely inspected for any damage. As a matter of course, the dice are replaced with new ones after about eight hours of use, and casinos have implemented rules in the way a player handles them.
The shooter is presented with multiple dice normally five by the Stickman , and must choose two to roll with. The remaining dice are returned to the Stickman's Bowl and are not used. The shooter must handle the dice with one hand only when throwing and the dice must hit the walls on the opposite end of the table.
In the event that one or both dice are thrown off the table, they must be inspected usually by the stickman before putting them back into play. The craps table can accommodate up to about 20 players, who each get a round of throws or at 'shooting' the dice.
If you don't want to throw the dice, you can bet on the thrower. Several types of bets can be made on the table action. The casino crew consist of a Stickman, Boxman and two Dealers. The game is played in rounds, with the right to roll the dice by each player moving clockwise around the craps table at the end of each round.
A player may choose not to roll but can continue to bet. Each round has two phases: Come Out and Point. To start a round, the shooter makes one or more Come Out rolls. A Come Out roll of 2, 3 or 12 called Craps , the shooter is said to 'crap out' ends the round with players losing their Pass Line bets. The shooter continues to make Come Out rolls until he rolls 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, which number becomes the Point.
