I want it active so I can go away on holiday and not worry about changing tapes. At present, I use a single DLT drive, which needs a new tape every three or four days. My strategy includes filling each tape, then starting a new one.
This approach may or may not be something that is applicable to your needs. I am using Bacula 3. These are my existing devices before attaching my tape library: That is important to note, as you will see below. These choices are outside the scope of this article. I last tried using this tape library in April and I failed. The problem was not seeing both the library and the drive at the same time.

Could you please advise how to fix this? I have that same problem also. It looks to me that something is up with mtx. I just run it twice now. I am running Ubuntu 8. In the first case, the autochanger is simply not yet ready to respond to the slots status request, while in the second, the failed request might actually trigger an inventory.
