Table Games Your best craps stories! Oct 10, Messages: I love playing craps. To me there is nothing that beats the energy at a craps table when the dice get hot. Please share some of your best craps stories! I was treading water for awhile and was about even when the dice came around to me for the second time. I proceeded to go on a bit of a tear. I hit about 4 points with full odds and was pressing all my place bets like crazy. When I finally crapped out the table went completely silent until the box man looked at everyone like they were crazy and said "do you guys realize how much cash this guy just made you?
Pretty awesome for my level of play! Lets hear your stories! Craps13 , Jan 28, May 21, Messages: I rarely gamble at Mandalay now, but these stories all seemed to happen there.
My favorite craps story is a little bit less than 10 years ago now. I was playing at Mandalay, the table was ok. My ears catch some commotion, and up steps one of the loudest of the loud and proud New Yohkas with his two buddies. He flops down 2 white envelopes, each one with 10k. From there, the mood at the table just changed and all of a sudden everybody was making at least 1 or 2. This happens a few times, then we get a real shooter.
participated in a fuck-a-thon. My servers down at work, so I have time to kill. Breezes 44 roll craps adventure reminds me of this story. Someone who's good at checking things out can look it up, because it is supposedly true.
This would have been in the mid to late 60's, and I read it in TIME magazine, which gave it an aura of authenticity. It wasn't about casinos or gambling but about mathematics. A professor from a major Eastern University goes to Las Vegas and brings a few students.
They stay at the Flamingo hotel. The professor has the students record every roll on a craps table over the course of a couple of days. Finally the professor picks up the dice himself for the 1st time and rolls 27 straight passes.
After the 27th pass, he puts down the dice and walks away! He doesn't even roll again to see if he will lose. The professor was trying to prove a theory, and wasn't there to gamble. I may have left out 1 or 2 small details, after all it's been almost 50 years. But that's basically the way I remember it.
And if somone does a search and finds out that it was really a hoax or didn't happen, please don't let me know. I think I want to remeber it just the way I do. I found an article of a grandma rolling times without rolling a seven. I believe that is the current world record. The point is 6. A pass is setting and making the point. Doing it as many as 10 times is exceedingly rare. The rolls is recognized as a record, and I don't think it encompassed 27 passes.
The buy bet is similar to the place bet; the difference between the two bets is that the buy bets pay off at true odds. True odds are the ratio of the number of times a number will appear vs.
Basically all casinos payoff at less than true odds because they need to make a profit in order to stay afloat. Think of the house edge as an entertainment tax or fee for allowing you to gamble. However, for a tiny 5 percent commission which is mandatory if you decide to make a buy bet, the casino payoff will be at true odds. How much should I bet if I want to buy a number? What are the best numbers to buy? A player is more than welcome to buy the other four point numbers but given the 5 percent commission, and the fact that these numbers bet as place bets offers a lower casino edge there is no reason to buy the numbers 5, 6, 8, or 9.
This way a player will have the lowest casino advantage per number and perhaps capitalize on a good run of numbers. Also, like place bets, buy bets are off on the come-out roll unless the player tells the dealer to have them on or working. In addition, the buy bet may also be reduced, increased, or taken down at any time before the next roll of the dice.
