The true odds are A come bet works like a pass line bet. If instead the roll is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, the Come bet will be moved by the base dealer onto a box representing the number the shooter threw. The fundamental bet in craps is the pass line bet, which is a bet for the shooter to win. This requirement is used to keep the game fair and reduce the chance of loaded dice. Most casinos require the dealers to pick up their winning bets, including the original tip, rather than "let it ride" as the player may choose to do.
Craps is a dice game in which the players make wagers on the outcome of the roll, or a series of rolls, of a pair of dice. Players may wager money against each other playing "street craps" or a bank playing " casino craps", also known as "table craps", or often just "craps". Because it requires little equipment, "street craps" can be played in informal settings.
Craps developed in the United States from a simplification of the western European game of Hazard. The origins of Hazard are obscure and may date to the Crusades. Hazard was brought from London to New Orleans about by the returning Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville , the young gambler and scion of a family of wealthy colonial Louisiana landowners. Both Hazard and its new offshoot were unfamiliar and rejected by Americans of his social class, leading de Marigny to introduce his novelty to the local underclass.
Fieldhands taught their friends, and deckhands carried the new game up the Mississippi River. Celebrating the popular success of his novelty, de Marigny gave the name Craps to a street in his New Orleans real estate development. The central game, called Pass from the French word for pace or step, has been gradually supplemented over the decades by many companion games which can be played simultaneously.
The entire collection of over one hundred separate and independent possible games is called Craps. The name Craps was a Louisiana mispronunciation of the word "crabs", which in London had been the joint epithet for the numbers two and three, which in Hazard are the only permanent instant losing numbers for wagers on Pass. For a century after its invention, Craps was abused by casinos using unfair dice. To remedy the problem, about a Philadelphia dice maker named John H.

Craps is a game where everybody, except the house, can win together. Craps can seem a little confusing at first, but it's fun and simple once you get the hang of the basic rules. To play Craps, start by placing a bet on the pass line before the shooter rolls the dice—if the shooter rolls a 7 or 11, you win twice your bet.
If the shooter rolls a different number, that number becomes the shooter's "point. Place a bet before the come-out roll. At the beginning of a round of craps, a button with the word OFF written on it is on the table not near any points. This means that no point explained later has been determined. A craps game can't begin until the shooter has placed a bet on the don't pass line.
Anyone else at the table can also place a bet on the don't pass line at this time, though they don't have to. These are the most basic craps bets. The shooter's first roll of any turn is called the come out roll.
If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the come-out roll, the pass line wins even money, the don'ts, you've lost your money. If the shooter comes out with a 2, 3, or this is called crapseveryone loses their pass line bets and wins their don't pass bets 2 or 12 is a push for the don'ts, whichever the casino says. If the shooter rolls any other number, this number becomes the point.
If the shooter establishes a point, by rolling a 4, 5, six, 8, nine, or 10, all bets on the don't pass line remain there.
The craps payout chart below shows various payout statistics such as what kind of craps bets, true odds, payout odds and the total house edge after everything has been calculated through. Note that these payout odds in the chart listed below are not the same in every casino or on all craps tables. Some casinos may have different odds which perhaps may be better or worse than the odds shown in the payout chart.

This craps payout chart is also a great tool if you are just starting to learn the craps strategy. That way you can see all of the odds displayed in one table and you'll be able to decide which bets are better than others. You can see why the free odds bet is such a great one and why some of the proposition bets are terrible.
My advice is to study this information or at least glance at it to find good strategies. As you can see from the payout table, there are many bets that sound exotic and arcane but they really aren't that good, even though they may sound like the "secret" bets that no one knows about.
Really the only good ones are the pass line or don't pass in conjunction with the free odds bets. There are a few other decent ones as well.
The trick to know is that when the house edge is a very low percentage, then the bet is a good one. Also remember the fact that the number 7 is rolled more often than any other number. The 2 and 12 snake eyes and box cars are rolled the least and have low probabilities of coming out.
