This is a discussion on Tournament Add-Ons within the online poker forums, in the Cash Games section; I am starting to feel that add-ons are a complete waste of money. I am starting to feel that add-ons are a complete waste of money. Anytime I have been in a tournament that offers add-ons, I am either short stacked at the time which I have previously utilised the add-on , and then found a couple of levels later I am going all in against a deep stack and my add on is insignificant at that point.
Lately the only way I have been playing re-buy and add-on tournaments is to pay the initial amount and view the rebuys and add-ons as a nice way of getting the prize pool bumped up. If I bust out, I don't bother with a rebuy, and I have been foregoing the add-on. IS this a good strategy? Should I be playing these tournaments differently, or should I be avoiding them altogether? Ideal strategy for rebuy tournaments, and rebuy satellites: I can't stress how much importance there is of adding on in these.

To be honest though , success in rebuy events usually is expensive if the cards dont fall well. And of course you must Always take the add-on!!! Means a pretty tight first hour, but it's doable.
I agree with Wona as well. Always do the first re-buy and always add on. I don't bother to play them if I am not prepared to at least do that. I can understand the initial rebuy. Doesn't the add-on depend on size of your stack, is the prize pool worth it, and maybe other things I always Thought the general strategy in rebuys was to rebuy until you had a large stack.
Shove any decent hand and then rebuy. Regardless the first Rebuy is vital, pointless playing without it imo. Once made Ninth in nice Juicy 8k Rebuy but I got very lucky on my first hand. I personally dont like rebuys for this reason, end up costing me too much.

The most commonly used odds charts are the "standard poker odds charts" below, which give both the percentage and ratio odds of completing your draw depending on the number of outs you have see pot odds and drawing hands for more information. The second set of odds charts highlight interesting odds for different situations in Texas Hold'em.
These will help you get to grips with the different likelihood's and chances within the game of poker. There are currently many odds charts on the Internet at numerous poker websites. However many of these can be tricky to use. ThePokerBank provides easy to use charts highlighting the key draws on each, which makes them simple and effective to use during play.
Poker odds charts help you to determine how much you can call when trying to complete a drawing hand, such as a flush or a straight draw. By comparing your pot odds with the odds of completing your draw, you can work out whether or not it will be profitable to call certain sized bets from your opponents. It is perfectly possible to work out the odds of completing a draw in your head, but these odds charts make things much easier if you are looking for a quick reference or if you're just starting out.
However, over time it is a good idea to learn the most common odds so that you no longer have to refer to any charts whilst you play. Don't just take my word for it or settle for the probabilities I've listed on the site, try working out probabilities for yourself. It's not as tricky or mathsy as you might think.
